See bottom of post regarding my delay in writing for the last week. 
I don’t know about you, but I don’t really go to the doctor very often. Basically, I tend to agree more with the eastern philosophy of treating a whole person, not just a symptom with a pill. There are a lot of great wholistic doctors in the area and I am sure no doctor is the same but, very few of the types I am aware of are covered by my insurance. (But I give thanks for insurance, so many don’t have and it breaks my heart!)
Given my views about medicine, I tend to think of massage as a sort of health insurance in and of itself (in conjunction with eating well and yoga). I know my body stores toxins and stress and massage has been essential for my wellbeing. Fortunately one of my best friends Roxanne, (pictured on the far right of this pic with me and Kaaren), used me as a ginnea pig for years when she was learning the art of massage therapy. So I got a TON of great massage on trade or for very little cash. Now Roxanne works at Verve Wellness so I get to keep the tradition going and I try to see her at least 1x per month. What inspired this article was a great new massage center in the Shadyside/Friendship area of Pittsburgh. The owner sent me an email and offered a massage to see what I thought. Well, I was VERY impressed.
LaVida Massage shares my vision and promotes a healthier mind, body, and life through massage. I had an amazing 1 hour massage and I floated out of the room. They offer at least 10 different types including deep tissue, hot stone, and aromatherapy. They use essential oils during their aromatherapy massages, like eucalyptus, peppermint, lavender, and rosemary. Each scent stimulates different emotions and you can just stop by to grab some for use at home as they sell them by the bottle! I just love playing with oils and wearing them. LaVida also has staff who specialize in trigger point therapy, which breaks cycles of 
spasms and pain if you have serious issues. Another thing that LaVida offers that I have heard is great is Colonic Hydrothearapy, which is a safe way to clear out unneeded toxins. I am so curious about this, and a little frightened, lol. I plan to try it and report back in the future. LaVida is located at 5430 Centre Ave in Pittsburgh and are open 7 days a week. Verve Wellness is my tried and true venue for total wellness right downtown. If you work downtown, you have GOT to stop by. I have written about them several times and will continue as I have new experiences. They really do it all there and I can’t suggest Roxanne enough to get your next massage! She has made my LIFE. She works on professional altheletes too so that sentiment I 
have heard before that a woman may not be strong enough for a male massage is NOT true (women can do anything, duh 
)! I have also heard amazing things about the massage therapist/owner Aubrey who I hope to try sometime soon. I also just found out they do Thai massage. Word! I did this once in LA and it was so interesting and helped with flexibility, which I need. Verve also does nails, hair, yoga and pilates, lipolaser consultation, facials, acupuncture and more! Your health is worth the investment. Might I suggest cooking at home more often, not shopping, giving up a habit that costs money, or having a few less drinks when you are out if it means getting a massage this month. It is so so so worth it!

*So, I totally said I would write 4x’s a week and DID NOT do so last week. And, like I said in my Integrity post, it is important to me to honor my word. I hope there was no impact for this but, if there was, holla. Since you can’t easily ask why, I will say it is a combo of lots of music and Nakturnal news you will hear about soon, my cousin moving in to town suddenly which you can read about here and my maid of honor duties for my girl Roxanne have been heating up this last week. (She is the Massage Therapist I mentioned above and I AM SOO EXCITED FOR HER WEDDING!) But, I promise to get back on track in the next week!
