Do you sometimes get feelings about certain people? Are there times when you just feel certain vibes towards situations or others? If you’ve ever “had a gut feeling” about something, chances are you’re dealing with your intuition. Some people are more open and aware of their intuition, while others consciously choose to ignore it or don’t listen to the signs it’s trying to give.
The chakra associated with your intuition is the third eye chakra. So what exactly is the third eye chakra and what are some of the most popular affirmations to help open it? Glad you asked, because in this article we’ll be delving deeper into:

If you’ve been reading our other posts on affirmations for the chakras (root, sacral, solar plexus, and heart) you know that the chakras are the Sanskrit word for “wheel” and are energy centers in the body. We typically refer to the seven main chakras that are associated with different parts of the body as you move up along the spine. Each chakra has a certain color, word, gland, and element associated with it.
Your third eye chakra is the 6th chakra, it is right between the heart and the crown chakras. Your third eye sits at the center of your brow, it is the seat of your intuition, and where you develop insight. This is the chakra that helps us to see beyond the mundane reality, and really see the big picture. Your third eye is the place where you learn to see the world for what it is, which allows you to broaden your perspective on the meaning of this life.
This recognition of your experience in this world is not something we’re born with. Throughout our lives we’re always learning and changing, so it only makes sense that our sense of self changes over time as well. What you are now and how you decide where you fit in this world might not be the same as it was 10 or 20 years ago. The third eye develops as we get older and gain more wisdom. Typically, you can expect the third eye chakra to truly start to develop between the ages of 35-40. This is when you have enough experiences in life to have a little wisdom.
Knowing and recognizing that your sense of self is always changing and developing can help you learn to trust your intuition better. Connecting to and continuing to open your third eye chakra takes work, but it is always worth the effort you put in.

Learning to open your third eye chakra is something that you will continually need to work on. After all, this is the seat of your insight and intuition, and how you understand to accept your place in this world and beyond. When your third eye is in balance, you start to see yourself as separate from the greater universe less and less, and understand that you, and everything else, are really one with the universe.
You may also be able to read people and situations better when this chakra is in balance, and learn to hone your vision and intuition—possibly developing some psychic abilities along the way. Creativity also seems to flow better when your third eye chakra is operating without any blocks.
Just like any of the seven chakras, it is also possible for the third eye to become unbalanced or blocked. You can have either an overactive or an underactive third eye chakra, resulting in certain symptoms you should learn to recognize.
If you have an underactive third eye chakra, you may experience:
Alternatively you can also have an overactive third eye chakra, where you may have symptoms such as:
If you’ve noticed any of these symptoms of an overactive or underactive third eye chakra, it could be trying to get your attention. In order to help unblock this chakra and keep the energy of your body flowing you can do a couple of things.
Yoga is a fantastic way to try to stimulate and unblock your third eye chakra. Poses such as child’s pose and a wide-legged forward fold are designed to stimulate the third eye chakra. Child’s pose allows you to put light pressure on your forehead, while a wide-legged forward fold forces you to invert yourself, and see things from a different perspective.
In order to get a better grasp on your unconscious thoughts, consider starting a dream journal. If you’re having problems remembering your dreams, make sure to keep the journal by your bed so you can easily reach for it as soon as you wake up.
Unblocking the third eye chakra can also be done with meditation. Start off with small amounts of time, and gradually you’ll find that you can make your sessions longer. Try breathing techniques such as alternate nostril breathing, or candle flame gazing. It is also helpful to repeat your third eye chakra affirmations while you do this.

In order to keep the energy of your third eye chakra flowing freely, consider saying some of these affirmations daily and in addition to yoga, meditation, and journaling. You may find yourself surprised and happy with the results!
