When I was downtown for a meeting, I happened upon this super cute store called Burgheoisie. As I looked around I saw a purse that I knew had to be by my friend Suz. She is responsible for the terrible towel skirt and football purse you see in my Pittsburgh archetype here!
Suz rocks. Her designs and purses are amazing and she an incredible seamstress. She also teaches at the fashion program at Art Insitute in Pgh and I got to work with her when I was chosen as a featured artists for a camp they did for recent highschool grads.
I have a great deal of love for local designers and anything handmade. In fact all of the pics you see on my site by Laura Petrilla were designed locally. Check um out here. One of my favorite events in Pgh is called Handmade Archade which is almost like a festival of hundreds of DIY crafters.
So, I just had to show some love to the people at Burgheoisie. The store is a collective boutique for clothes, accessories, and art by Pittsburgh artists and it is right dowtown. Their goal is “to share the value and impact of goods created by local neighbors”. They also offer crafts workshops in their boutique. Burgheoisie is a part of the Project Popup: Downtown program, which was a contest sponsored the Department of City Planning, the mayor, Pittsburgh Downtown Partnership and more. Popup gives the winners the chance to occupy vacant stores downtown.
They are at 208 Sixth St.
Here are their hours: Wed: 11a-2p & 4-9p | Thu/Fri: 11a-2p & 4-8p | Sat: 11a-8p | Sun: 11a-5p
